Family of Faith is geared toward families with children in grades K-8, however families with younger children are welcome to register as well. Registration must be completed prior to our first in-person gathering on August 28th. Registration days will be August 14th and 21st after the Sunday Masses in the parish hall. If you are unable to register in person after Mass either of those Sundays, please contact Abigail for registration materials.
Moving forward with Cathedral ministries, our main focus is going to be building up the faith foundation of families. Specifically with our fmaily formation sessions, we will be using a curriculum from the Sophia Institute called Family of Faith. This program provides a unique approach to Catholic family based formation while using a combination of in-person teaching, lessons at home, and community events to provide an environment where families can encounter Christ together. All families will cover the same topics, regardless of their child(ren)'s grade level, in order to grow in faith as a family instead of simply "checking boxes" for a variety of grade levels.
This curriculum change will cause our schedule to be different than previous years. We will meet after the 11am Mass 1-2 times per month according to our new monthly schedule. Each month, we will begin with an in person gathering - parents will meet as a large group with parish staff to receive instruction and all of their resources for the month, while children will meet with volunteer catechists in age brackets to complete a lesson. The 2nd and 3rd weeks of the month will not have any in person gatherings so families can use that time to complete their lessons at home. At the end of the month, all participating families will meet for a community event that will wrap up that month's topic. The community event will be an opportunity for families to grow in fellowship with one another as well as share what lessons they completed and what they learned.
There will be additional formation sessions for parents/students preparing for First Holy Communion in addition to participating in the Family of Faith program.
Registration
Registration is required for all families participating in Family of Faith. This is to ensure we can provide adequate materials and resources for every family. Registration fee is $50 per student, covering learning materials, lunch at in-person gatherings, and additional supplies/activities provided throughout the year. Financial assistance is available if needed. If you would like to "sponsor" the registration fees for one or more anonymous students, please contact Abigail.
